How credits work
Credits are the currency that powers advanced features in Diviner One. They let you run rank tracking checks, generate local ranking grids, perform domain analyses, and more. This guide explains everything you need to know about earning, purchasing, and spending credits.
Your credit balance
Navigate to Dashboard > Credits to see your credit balance. The balance card at the top of the page shows:
- Total credits - Your combined balance of included and purchased credits
- Included credits - Credits that come with your current plan, reset monthly
- Purchased credits - Credits you bought separately (these never expire)
- Monthly reset date - When your included credits refresh
Included credits reset on your billing cycle date each month. Any unused included credits do not roll over. Purchased credits, however, remain in your account until you use them.
Plan credit allotments
Each plan comes with a monthly credit allotment:
| Plan | Monthly credits |
|---|---|
| Grower | 500 credits/month |
| Builder | 1,000 credits/month |
| Maven | 2,000 credits/month |
When you use credits, the system draws from your included credits first. Once those are depleted, purchased credits are used.
What credits power
Credits fuel several features across the platform:
Rank tracking
- 2 credits per keyword for each check (covers both desktop and mobile results)
- Checks run on your configured schedule (daily, weekly, etc.)
- Use the rank tracking cost calculator on the credits page to estimate your monthly spend based on keyword count and check frequency
Local ranking grids
- 1 credit per grid point for each grid run
- A standard 5x5 grid uses 25 credits per keyword per run
- Use the local grid cost calculator on the credits page to estimate costs based on grid size, keyword count, and frequency
Domain analysis
- 20 credits per analysis - Covers technology stack detection, SEO metrics, backlinks, WHOIS data, and optional AI insights
Other features
- Sentiment analysis - Credits are consumed when analyzing review sentiment
- LLM visibility checks - Credits used when checking your brand visibility in AI chat responses
Purchasing additional credits
If your included credits are not enough, you can purchase additional credits on the credits page. Two options are available:
One-time credit packs
Purchase credits as a one-time transaction. These credits are added to your purchased balance immediately and never expire. Three tiers are available with increasing savings at higher volumes. Look for the savings badges on each tier to see how much you save compared to the base rate.
Monthly credit subscriptions
Set up a recurring monthly credit purchase that automatically tops up your balance each billing cycle. This is ideal if you consistently need more credits than your plan provides. Like one-time packs, three tiers are available with volume discounts.
Both purchase options open a Stripe checkout session. Your transaction is processed securely through Stripe.
Managing credit subscriptions
If you have an active credit subscription, you can manage it through the Stripe billing portal linked from the credits page. From there you can:
- Update your payment method
- Cancel your credit subscription
- View upcoming charges
Transaction history
The credits page includes a full transaction history showing every credit movement in your account. Each transaction displays:
- Date and time of the transaction
- Type icon indicating what happened (subscription renewal, feature debit, monthly grant, monthly expiration, promo grant, or manual adjustment)
- Description explaining the transaction
- Credit amount added or deducted
Use this history to understand your usage patterns and decide whether you need to purchase additional credits or upgrade your plan.
Cost calculators
Two interactive calculators on the credits page help you plan your credit budget:
Rank tracking calculator
Enter your number of tracked keywords and check frequency to see:
- Credits per check cycle
- Estimated monthly credit usage
- Whether your plan allotment covers the cost
Local grid calculator
Enter your grid size, number of keywords, and run frequency to see:
- Credits per grid run
- Estimated monthly credit usage
- Cost comparison across grid sizes
Tips for managing credits effectively
- Monitor your balance regularly - Check the credits page weekly to avoid running out mid-month
- Use the calculators before configuring - Estimate costs before setting up rank tracking schedules or grid sizes
- Start with fewer keywords - Begin with your most important keywords, then expand as you understand your usage
- Consider a credit subscription if you consistently exceed your plan allotment - the volume discounts add up
- Review your transaction history monthly to identify features consuming the most credits
- Upgrade your plan if your included credits are consistently insufficient - plan upgrades are often more cost-effective than purchasing credits separately
Common questions
Do unused included credits roll over? No. Included credits reset on your billing cycle date. Any unused included credits expire at that point.
Do purchased credits expire? No. Purchased credits remain in your account until used, regardless of plan changes or billing cycles.
Which credits are used first? Included credits are always consumed before purchased credits.
What happens if I run out of credits? Features that require credits will not execute until your balance is replenished. Rank tracking checks and grid runs will be skipped. You can purchase more credits at any time.
Can I get a refund on purchased credits? Contact [email protected] for questions about credit purchases.
