People also ask questions
The PAA questions page collects and aggregates "People Also Ask" questions that Google surfaces for your tracked keywords. These questions reveal what real users are asking about topics related to your business, giving you content ideas and competitive intelligence.
Where to find it
Navigate to Dashboard > Keywords > Rank tracking > PAA questions. This page is part of the rank tracking sub-navigation and only shows data if you have active rank tracking configured.
How PAA data is collected
When Diviner One runs rank tracking checks for your keywords, it also captures any "People Also Ask" boxes that appear in Google's search results. Over time, this builds a library of questions organized by frequency and relevance.
You do not need to do anything extra to collect PAA data. As long as rank tracking is active and running checks on your keywords, PAA questions are captured automatically.
Understanding the PAA table
Each row in the table shows:
- Question text - The exact question Google displays in the PAA box
- Frequency - How many times this question has been observed across your tracked keywords and check cycles
- Answering domains - Which websites Google selects to answer this question (your domains are highlighted)
- First seen - When this question was first captured
- Last seen - When this question was most recently observed
- Triggering keywords - Which of your tracked keywords triggered this PAA question
- Position - Where the PAA box appeared in search results
Click any row to expand it and see the full details including all answering domains and triggering keywords.
Filtering questions
Three filter tabs help you focus on what matters:
All
Shows every PAA question discovered across all your tracked keywords. This is the default view.
We answer
Filters to show only questions where your domain appears as the answering source. These are questions where Google already considers your content authoritative. Protecting and strengthening these positions should be a priority.
Competitors answer
Filters to questions where competitor domains provide the answer. These represent opportunities to create or improve your content to win those answer positions.
Searching and sorting
Full-text search
Use the search bar to find questions containing specific words or phrases. This is useful when you want to find questions related to a particular topic or service.
Sort options
Sort the table by:
- Frequency - See which questions appear most often (high frequency means more search interest)
- Question text - Alphabetical ordering for easier browsing
- Last seen date - Find the most recently observed questions
Adding questions to keyword concepts
PAA questions often reveal keyword ideas you have not tracked yet. You can add questions to your keyword concepts library:
Individual questions
Click the action menu on any question row and select Add to concept to open the concept modal. Choose an existing concept or create a new one.
Bulk selection
Check multiple questions using the checkboxes on the left side of the table, then click the bulk action button to add them all to a concept at once. This is efficient when you find a cluster of related questions.
Exporting data
Click the Export button to download all PAA questions (or your current filtered view) as a CSV file. The export includes all columns: question text, frequency, answering domains, dates, triggering keywords, and position data.
Use exports to:
- Share findings with your content team
- Import into content planning tools
- Track changes over time by comparing periodic exports
- Analyze patterns in a spreadsheet
Pagination
The table displays 50 questions per page. Use the pagination controls at the bottom of the table to navigate through your full question library.
Strategies for using PAA data
Content creation
- Questions in the "Competitors answer" tab are content opportunities. Create detailed pages or blog posts that directly answer these questions.
- High-frequency questions indicate strong search demand. Prioritize these for new content.
- Questions you already answer ("We answer" tab) can be strengthened with more comprehensive content.
FAQ pages
- Add commonly asked PAA questions to your website's FAQ section
- Use the exact question phrasing that Google shows, since that matches how users search
Keyword expansion
- PAA questions often contain long-tail keyword variations you are not tracking
- Add relevant questions to your keyword concepts to start tracking their rankings
Competitive intelligence
- Track which competitors consistently appear in PAA answers
- Identify topics where competitors dominate and where you have opportunities
- Monitor changes over time by checking the "Last seen" dates
Requirements
- Active rank tracking is required. PAA data is collected during rank tracking checks.
- If you have not set up rank tracking yet, visit Dashboard > Keywords > Rank tracking to get started.
- The more keywords you track and the longer you track them, the more comprehensive your PAA library becomes.
